As a part of the ongoing Solid Waste Management Project for the Western Corridor and more specifically, the Institutional Strengthening component of the Project, the Belize Solid Waste Management Authority (BSWaMA) has hired a consulting firm to prepare a National Solid Waste Policy and Strategy and to update the National Solid Waste Management Plan. In order to achieve the objective of the consultancy, stakeholder consultation is an integral activity. To date three (3) such stakeholder consultations have been undertaken. These consultations have had participation of all the key players in the waste management sector and from other cross – cutting sector. Thus far the consultant has presented a draft policy. Some high level consultations with key decision makers are pending.
